Jason Amputee

INTRODUCTION / BIO
In November 2015, at the end of a routine week at work, I had a heavy cold and a migraine.  48 hours later I was in ICU, with my family and friends being told I would not survive the weekend.  My diagnosis was meningococcal septicaemia.

I was a patient in ICU for 7 weeks, and in 2 different hospitals.  4 months later I returned home, as an amputee.

During the next 3 years I had more surgery, with 3 more stays in hospital.  I came to terms with my changed life, but was still uncertain of parts of my future.  June 2018 marked a turning point, and my story changes to one of recovery afterwards.

My life is a lot more positive now.  I am trying to make more purpose from my life. "Life is good" was a motto I started for myself after I left ICU, and I still try to think that.

I am trying to raise awareness of Sepsis.  It's difficult fitting this in with a full time job, and reduced energy levels ! I have been lecturing to nursing staff, and I am still trying to write a book from all the notes I made along my journey.

As of 2018, 46,000 people a year die of Sepsis.  I was very nearly one of those, but I am doing what I can to try and prevent a few more.​
