Jason Amputee Talks
Since late 2017 I have presented talks of my story. I want to put something back, try to help other people by sharing my experience, thank the NHS, and show people that there is hope after this illness.
INTRODUCTION
A story of survival, hallucinations, horror, hope and recovery. Jason survived sepsis and now wants to share his experience as a patient and how it has changed his outlook on life

The talks range from 1 hour to 1 hour 45 minutes, and cover :-
FEEDBACK
'Jason, the students were really moved by your presentation and one commented she liked the visual display to accompany the talk. Your humour allowed them to ask questions they may not have felt comfortable to do otherwise. Your presentation made my afternoon teaching sepsis much easier. Instead of saying "have you seen a patient where....." there was a lot of "did you notice with Jason that....." (blood gas, vital signs etc)'
'Amazing to have Jason come in and give patient experience of sepsis. Learnt a lot seeing it through his eyes.'
'Jason is an excellent speaker who clearly captures his healthcare experiences into an interactive and thought-provoking session. Starting with the 999 audio call and following through his critical care, ward and at-home recovery periods, Jason’s storytelling is supplemented with clinical data, photos and personal reflection. He provides a poignant tale of what it was like to survive sepsis which is full of humour, emotion and gratitude, recognising aspects of healthcare practice which both helped and hindered his physical and psychological recovery.'
'You were excellent and made her realise how it important it is not to wake people up at 06:00 in the morning as a nurse unless there is a really good reason. Also, she said how much she priorities mouth care now because of your emphasis on the mouth dryness you found excruciatingly uncomfortable while in ICU.'
'Great talk and insight into patients view. Reinforced importance of using patients diaries.'
'Good to see the other side, will change my practice'
'Inspirational speaker'
'I salute his bravery and courage to speak to us, so touching'
